What Exactly IS an Essential Oil?
Essential oils are found in the root, stem, leaves, flowers, fruits or seeds of certain plants. They are the pure essence of the plant. However, not all plants produce essential oils. Essential oils typically do not feel “oily”, they are so named because they contain oil-soluble chemical compounds. Their complex chemistry (100 – 200 compounds per oil) is what delivers the therapeutic properties For topical application, essential oils should always be diluted in a carrier oil or base.
